Paid Family & Medical Leave
It may not be immediately obvious, but every worker benefits from having paid medical and family leave. When a health crisis occurs, to you or a loved one, having the money and time off to address the crisis eases the stress. We believe that every employee deserves the opportunity to prioritize their health and their family without facing financial strain.
Our aim … is a federal paid leave policy. America remains one of the few countries without a nationwide law for paid leave. We’re working to change that. We support lawmakers who share a desire for local and federal policies.
Why Paid Medical and Family Leave Matters:
Health and Well-being: Nobody should have to choose between their health and their paycheck. Paid medical leave ensures that individuals can take the time they need to recover from illness, surgery, or injury without worrying about financial instability.
Family Bonding: The early stages of parenthood are crucial for both child development and family bonding. Paid family leave allows parents to spend quality time with their newborn or adopted child, fostering strong family relationships and supporting healthy child development.
Economic Stability: Without paid leave policies, many workers are forced to return to work prematurely, risking their health or the well-being of their family members. Paid leave provides essential financial stability during challenging times, reducing the risk of poverty and economic hardship.
Our Aim:
We’re committed to establishing (or expanding) comprehensive paid medical and family leave policies at local, state, and national levels. We achieve this by:
Educating and Raising Awareness: We inform the public about the importance of paid leave and its positive impact on individuals, families, and communities.
Advocating for Policy Change: We work with lawmakers, policymakers, and community leaders to promote the adoption of inclusive paid leave policies that benefit all workers, regardless of industry or employment status.
Supporting Workers’ Rights: We stand with workers in their fight for fair and equitable treatment in the workplace, including the right to paid time off for medical and family reasons.
